John Hawkins has over 28 years of industry experience in hospital services, medical devices manufacturing, and information technology; he has served as VP of Business Development and National Director of Corporate Sales. As CEO of ZDi, he manages all aspects of business advancement and expansion.
Over 28 years working in healthcare to include hospitals facilities, medical device manufacturing, skilled nursing and Information technology. The specialized areas of experience are in senior level executive management, sales management, operations, JVs, M&A’s and contract negotiations. He also has an extensive knowledge of developing ancillary revenue business models in the healthcare industry.
Prior to joining ZDi Solutions, LLC John served as the Vice President of Business Development at Alana Healthcare; preceding that assignment, he was the National Director of Corporate Sales for Functional Pathways, which was an $83 million physical therapy services company. John began his career in healthcare as a Cardiac Perfusionist, functioning with open-heart surgery teams throughout the United States. After several years in patient care, Mr. Hawkins advanced into professional sales for an IT infrastructure and software development company; ultimately, he was promoted to Vice President of Sales. In 2002, he transitioned to Otto Bock Healthcare, a 500 million dollar German OEM medical manufacturer, where he operated as the Southeastern Regional Sales Manager. John, in 2008, created OrthoVascular Solutions, LLC. As CEO, he built his business into a $5.2 million revenue cycle consulting company for Vascular and Trauma surgical groups in the Southeastern U.S. In due course, John sold his interest to his partners.
John currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for East Tennessee Cerebral Palsy Foundation and was also on the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities of East Tennessee. He was a member of the Tennessee Healthcare Association vendor task force. Mr. Hawkins holds a B.S in Biology and Business Management (Healthcare Organizational Management) from the University of Tennessee and a B.S. in Cardiac Perfusion Technology from South Carolina University. John lives in Knoxville, TN and has 3 children: McKinsey, Reagan, Haynes and grandson, Cater.
Zach Dutton, R.T., (R)(T), has wide-ranging clinical experience in both proton therapy and conventional radiation therapy settings. He now serves as the Chief Design Officer, bringing the entire Z-System from concept to reality.
Zachary has over eight years of experience within the medical field. In 2008, during his senior year of high school, he was selected to participate with an elite group of twelve students to complete a Clinical Internship Program allowing exposure to many modalities of medicine. This program landed him a position with a pharmacy technician role, fulfilling tasks uncommon to most high school students. This experience and exposure allowed him to pass the interview and acceptance process to attend the University of Tennessee School of Radiography in 2009. He maintained an above average GPA and Clinical Competency score, graduating Valedictorian of his fourteen-member Class in 2011. He was then accepted into the Chattanooga State Radiation Therapy Program, where he graduated top honors of his twelve-member class in 2012, and completed a group presentation on proton therapy. He passed two national exams and currently holds licenses as a Radiologic Technologist and a Radiation Therapist. Currently, Zachary is a Radiation Therapist at the Provision Center for Proton Therapy. He has been with Provision for over two years, starting December 2013. With his previous one-year experience at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute, he was hired on to Provision to take a major role in training other therapists on the techniques of proton therapy. He was consulted on developing processes and procedures for the newly opened clinic, and participated in the first treatment ever delivered at Provision, the thirteenth proton center in the nation. He became the lead CT Simulation therapist, where he developed protocols and procedures for patient alignment. After one year, he was titled the Process Improvement and Product Development Manager at Provision.
He holds two U.S. Patents on patient positioning devices, one on his Z-Box Positioning System and one on his Shoulder Retraction System. His devices are used in several clinics. He is also a published author, with one publication about his Z-Box invention in the American Society of Radiologic Technologist quarterly journal, Radiation Therapist. His second publication is as co- author of Proton Therapy training modules used for continuing education through the American Society of Radiologic Technology. He was invited to deliver a presentation at the Tennessee Society of Radiologic Technology 2015 annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, educating approximately two-hundred professional members on the science of proton therapy. Zachary is currently living in Knoxville, Tennessee, he is not yet married, but has a serious girlfriend, Alana and one dog, Winston.
Tim Sykes brings to ZDi extensive financial advisory and consulting knowledge. He founded his own exceptionally successful companies and was recognized as one of the ‘Top 100 Advisors’ by a national publication. Tim fulfills the role of Executive Vice President, overseeing all financial decisions and obligations.
In 2006, Tim helped found RPC Private Client Group; LLC, a registered Investment Advisory Firm, which provided fee based advisory services to a largely individual clientele, as well as Retirement Plan Consultants INC. The companies were focused on retirement plan design, consulting and administrative services encompassing legal and compliance issues in the Qualified Plan arena. Over the years Tim has advised hundreds of clients and plan participants on investment and financial matters. Tim became a registered representative in 2007 with Financial Network along with serving as a Principal of SageView Advisory Group, one of the largest independent RIA's in the industry, focusing solely on company sponsored retirement plans. When Tim sold out of SageView and RPC in late 2013, the combined assets were over 11 billion. He was also a co-founder of Impact Benefit Solutions, a large group benefits enrollment firm, which was ultimately purchased by U.S.I Consulting. Prior to joining Capital Financial Group in 2015, Tim worked in the financial services industry, focusing on estate planning, investments, and retirement plan design. Tim served BPV Investment management in 2014 as Director of New Business and primarily as a fundraiser for the new but fast growing firm. He has ranked among the top two percent of his peers in the industry for the last several years. Tim has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Advisors to corporate retirement plans by Plan Sponsor, the largest publication for the retirement planning spectrum.
Tim is very active in community and civic organizations. He has served on boards and on committees focusing on fundraising for such groups as the Helen Ross McNabb Center, University of Tennessee Alumni Association Board, Vice-chairman of the Knoxville Open, now the Web.com Tour, Association of Financial and Insurance Professionals, Knoxville Public Building Authority, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Knoxville, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Emerald Youth Foundation. Tim also served as a Vice-President and Board member for Fox Den Country Club, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Cherokee Country Club, both located in Knoxville. Tim was recognized in 2010 by the Knoxville News Sentinel as a successful executive when named a member of Knoxville's 40 Under 40 annual listing. Tim is a past President of Nucleus Knoxville and is also a graduate of The Leadership Knoxville Program. Tim has been a featured writer in the Knoxville News Sentinel business section for over 10 years.
Tim graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1993 with a Degree in Economics. Outside of work, Tim enjoys playing golf and spending time with sons, Tanner and Drew, along with dogs Watson & Norman, and his Fiancée Dara Worrell.
